jets steelers score

The New York Jets against a huge mountain to climb in the second half of the AFC Championship game on Sunday. The game was 24-3 in the half and the Jets only managed a cumulative running the ball yard.

The medicine I have O.J. Mayo suspended for 10 games

Today, most people have already heard the news that the Memphis Grizzlies guard OJ Mayo has been suspended 10 games by the NBA for a positive drug test.

If so, you probably saw the product in question , or DHEA is short.

And if so, you're probably wondering what the heck the stuff.

NFL Playoff Scenarios

Lose, and the Packers need a little help to get back to the postseason.

The Giants' loss also helped the Eagles. Philadelphia clinched the NFC East with the win, and is now playing only for playoff byes.

Tampa Bay's rout of Seattle also keeps the Bucs in the playoff hunt. Whichever team prevails in next week's game at Qwest Field will win the NFC West and take the NFC's fourth seed.

If the Seahawks win that game, they will enter the playoffs with a 7-9 record — and may welcome the defending Super Bowl champion Saints to Seattle.

NFL playoff scenarios are still plentiful after the penultimate weekend of the regular season, but Sunday answered some crucial questions and more will be addressed with games yet to come on Monday and Tuesday.

Here is how things shake out after Sunday's Week 16 action:

NFC

First round bye: (1) Atlanta, (2) Chicago

Note: Atlanta clinches home-field advantage with win over New Orleans on Monday night. Chicago clinches No. 2 seed with win against Green Bay or Philadelphia loss on Tuesday; Philadelphia clinches No. 2 seed with wins and each of last two games and Chicago loss.

Wild Card Round Matchups

(6) Green Bay at (3) Philadelphia

How we got to this point: Fueled by the return of Aaron Rodgers, who threw for a career-high 404 yards, the Packers blew out the wounded Giants for a crucial win on Sunday to overtake New York for the sixth and final playoff spot in the NFC, at least temporarily.

Technically, scenarios in which Green Bay wins next week and still misses the postseason do exist, but they’re not worth examining because of sheer complexity. Realistically, the Packers finish the job with a victory over the Bears; if unsuccessful, they leave the door wide open for either the Giants or Buccaneers, who next week play at Washington and at New Orleans, respectively.

Though a Bears loss in Week 17 would open up some possibilities, the Eagles, winners of the NFC East by virtue of the Giants’ loss, seem cemented into the No. 3 seed, whereby they would miss out on a first-round bye but play at home in the opening round.

(5) New Orleans at (4) St. Louis

How we got to this point: As of now, the Saints are a solid No. 5 seed, but as is the case with the Rams, their playoff positioning is certainly subject to change. A win at Atlanta on Monday would solidify New Orleans’ current standing, but a loss sets up what would be a play-in game next Sunday between them and Tampa.

A one-game playoff may be a mere possibility for the Saints, but it’s a definite in St. Louis. The Rams would be in if the playoffs were to begin today, but a season finale in Seattle will determine which of the two will emerge victorious in the league’s ugliest division to, believe it or not, host an opening-round game.

AFC

First round bye: (1) New England, (2) Pittsburgh

Note: New England has clinched home-field advantage with its win over Buffalo on Sunday. Pittsburgh clinches the No. 2 seed with a win over Cleveland or a Baltimore loss/tie versus Cincinnati; Baltimore clinches the No. 2 seed with a win and Pittsburgh loss.

Wild Card Round Matchups

(6) New York Jets at (3) Kansas City

How we got to this point: For lack of a better description, the Jets backed into the playoffs via some help from Jacksonville, and appear to be concluding the regular season with inconsistencies on both sides of the ball.

The No. 5 seed is still a possibility, but Baltimore would need to win and Pittsburgh lose next week.

The Chiefs proved me wrong with a win Sunday against Tennessee. I picked Kansas City to stumble down the back stretch, but the victory, along with San Diego’s loss at Cincinnati, clinches the AFC West for the Chiefs.

Qualcomm Stadium Flooding

The Poinsettia Bowl between Navy and San Diego State was expected to take place on December 23 at 8 p.m. There were floods all over the region yesterday, due to heavy rain that caused the San Diego River to flood. According to reports, the Qualcomm Stadium field was submerged in 10 inches of muddy water on Wednesday, leaving the game in doubt. Pictures via SB Nation and Sign on San Diego.

has come at the worst time. The is among the many examples of southern California's rain problems today. The Poinsettia Bowl stands to help tonight, although they have to clear the stadium first, which hasn't been an easy task.

The home stadium of the San Diego Chargers has not been immune to the recent storms. In fact, KGTV-San Diego has captured aerial footage of the field, and much of the parking lot, being underwater.

There's nothing like a field under 10 inches of muddy water to derail your college bowl plans. Qualcomm Stadium, where the Poinsettia Bowl is set to take place between San Diego State and Navy, has been the victim of days of heavy rain, which may delay tonight's game, scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EST.

Yup, ballrooms. Should the Navy + water jokes commence now?
Football games in crappy weather are definitely the most entertaining to watch!

If not for the Poinsettia Bowl, the flooding might not have been so urgent. The Chargers don't play another regular season game, and their hopes for hosting a playoff game in two weeks are still iffy. For Navy and San Diego State, they had to move their recent practices to hotel ballrooms thanks to the weather.

Indonesia vs. Malaysia Final AFF

Indonesia vs. Malaysia :Indonesia may have thumped Malaysia 5-1 in the opening group stage game of the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup, but that was a long time ago. Malaysia has proven its quality with results against regional powerhouses Vietnam and Thailand. The Malaysians have potent scorers, such as Norshahrul Idlan and Safee Sali.

While Malaysia will pose a far greater attacking threat than the Philippines, Indonesia will be confident enough in its own form and strength in depth. For example, against the Philippines in the second leg, coach Alfred Riedl had to do without poster boy Irfan Bachdim.

The flanks are the key area in Riedl’s strategy. Through the middle there isn’t a lot of pace, and striker Christian Gonzales likes the ball played to feet.

Oktovianus Maniani has had the fans on the edge of their seats ever since he joined the national team. Indeed Ridwan, a teammate of Oktovianus at Sriwijaya, has also chipped in with two goals.

On the bench, Riedl has a couple of options to keep pulling wide. Interestingly, Riedl has been using Arif as an impact player, coming on to replace Oktovianus with some fresh legs and providing yet more cutting edge to the Indonesian front line. There’s a touch of Roy Keane about the midfield dynamo.

The Arema Indonesia midfielder is another player for whom international football seemed to pass by, but his consistent performances during the AFF Cup have impressed fans and critics alike. Under Riedl they have played nine games and won eight, just that 7-1 reverse against Uruguay blotting the record book. But all the games have been played in front of passionate home crowds. Jim Tressel Out at Ohio State

Jim Tressel : According to Chicago Now’s Daily Sports Tab, a journalist said this: two sources that are very close to recruiting at prominent universities confirmed that Jim Tressel will no longer be the head football coach at Ohio State University after the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.

Despite Tressel’s phenomenal record in Columbus (well, his record vs. everyone not in the SEC anyway) this story was believable considering that 1.) Big changes like this often occur at times of crisis (the Shock Doctrine.”) Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith tweeted this at 6:42 PM CT:

Rumors not true.. So for now, the rumors are inherently discredited. Power Web Spoilers (PWSpoilers.com) invites you to "like" our fan page on Facebook. By subscribing, you will get news from the world of entertainment, music, television, celebrity gossip, professional wrestling, MMA and more straight to your news feeds. Rumors began circulating today that long-time Head Coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jim Tressel may be coaching his last game at Ohio St. in the Sugar Bowl. As the rumor states, Ohio State recruits are being advised that Tressel will not be coaching beyond the Sugar Bowl and they've been given the option to attend other universities if they so choose.

The program was certainly shaken by the recent NCAA violations leading to Terrelle Pryor and 4 other prominent Buckeyes' suspensions for 5 games in 2011. This is certainly the largest instance of violations during Tressel's tenure, but it isn't near the scale of the violations and impending sanctions placed on USC that caused Pete Carroll to bolt for the NFL. The first, as one rumor suggests, is that Tressel will step down but it's not at all his decision. Jim Tressel has absolutely owned the Big Ten since arriving at Ohio State and he's won a national championship in the last decade. Despite some issues with Tressel's play calling, roster decisions, etc., he's still had incredible success and this year is no different.

If the NCAA is already sniffing around and Tressel and the University are aware of significant violations which could lead the NCAA to concluding that they lack "Institutional Control", then it would make perfect sense for Tressel to leave.

NFL Network Christmas Football "Cowboys vs. Cardinals Predictions"

The NFL Network will have football on Christmas night when the Arizona Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys in a meaningless game in terms of playoffs. According to current NFL Week 16 odds and oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Cowboys are 7-point favorites over the Cardinals on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game is currently 45 points.

The Cowboys enter Saturday’s game with a 5-9 record after beating the Redskins last Sunday. NFL Christmas Free Pick:

The Cowboys are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Cardinals. Our pick is Dallas –7.

This game is on NFL Network, and is the only game on tap for Saturday. And, how ’bout those Cowboys? If Jason Garret can take his (5-9) Dallas Cowboys into Glendale, AZ and escape with a victory against the (4-10) Arizona Cardinals then he would all but be assured of a head coaching job with Americas team next season, kickoff slated for Christmas night at 7:30 PM EST. The Cardinals and Cowboys are former NFC East foes and have faced each other 84 times during the regular season with the Cowboys holding a 28-55-1 advantage in the series.

The series dates back to 1960 and this week’s matchup will be the 18th time the Cowboys will have played the Cardinals in Arizona.

Dallas placed Tony Romo on injured reserve Tuesday, and Kitna has played well with a 66.1 completion percentage and 15 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. Last week, the Cowboys finally threw the ball downfield. Fourteen of Kitna’s passes traveled 10-plus yards in the air. That strategy clearly paid off for Dallas, as the Cowboys gained 148 total yards on those plays and Kitna acquired a 118.8 passer rating. Interim head coach Jason Garrett has given Dallas some reason for optimism. The Cowboys, lead by backup turned starter Jon Kitna, is 4-2 over the past 6 games after starting the season 1-7 under Wade Phillips. Arizona lost its tenth of the season to Carolina 19-12. Arizona’s offense is second worst in the league, producing 268.5 yards per game. “Hyphen” might not be ready for the game against the Cowboys. The Cardinals placed receiver Early Doucet on injured reserve with a hip injury Wednesday. The Cardinals defense is allowing an average of 3.88 points inside the red zone, the best average in the NFL this season. A win would give the Cardinals a 4-4 record at home this season.
